Elector
Who can vote?
Any natural person is a qualified elector who :
- is or will be 18 years of age on December 4th, 2022
- is a Canadian citizen on October 18th, 2022
- is not under curatorship on October 18th, 2022; and
- has not been convicted, as of October 18th, 2022, of an offence constituting a corrupt electoral practice within the preceding five years.
The person must also meet one of the following three conditions
- be domiciled on the territory of the Municipality of the Village of North Hatley on October 18th, 2022 and in Quebec since at least April 18th, 2022
- be the owner of a building located on the territory of the municipality since at least October 18th, 2021; or
- be an occupant of a business establishment located on the territory of the municipality since at least October 18th, 2021.
Building owners and occupants of a business establishment
Sole proprietors of real property and sole occupants of a business establishment located within the territory of the Municipality of the Village of North Hatley must, in order to be registered on the voters list, submit an application to that effect to the electoral officer. These applications must be forwarded to the office of the electoral officer no later than October 18th, 2022. Applications submitted after that date and before the Board of Revision has completed its work on November 24th, 2022 will be considered as applications for changes to the list of electors and will be treated as such by the Board of Revision.

Co-owners and co-occupants
In the case of a building owned by undivided co-owners or a place of business occupied by co-occupants, only the undivided co-owner or co-occupant designated by means of a proxy signed by a majority of the co-owners or co-occupants who are electors on October 18th, 2022, is entitled to be listed on the voters list as the owner of the building or occupant of the place of business. Such proxies must be delivered to the office of the returning officer no later than October 18th, 2022. Proxies submitted after that date and prior to the completion of the work of the board of revisors scheduled for November 24th, 2022, shall be considered requests for amendments to the voters list and shall be processed as such by the board of revisors.

Voters in several capacities
A person who, on October 18th, 2022, is a multiple-member elector may be registered in only one of those capacities, in the following order of priority:
- as a resident of the Municipality of the Village of North Hatley;
- as a sole proprietor of a building in the Municipality of the Village of North Hatley
- as a sole occupant of a business establishment in the Municipality of the Village of North Hatley
- as an undivided co-owner of real property in the Municipality of the Village of North Hatley
- as a co-occupant of a business establishment in the Municipality of the Village of North Hatley.
To be able to exercise your right to vote in the December 4th general election, it is not enough to be a qualified elector. You have to be registered on the list of electors.
Unlike other levels of government, it is not possible to have your name added to the list on Election Day.
Only registered voters will be eligible to vote on December 4th.
