Update – Drinking water consumption following the seaplane crash on Lake Massawippi

Following the crash of an aircraft on Lake Massawippi earlier today, the Emergency Measures Coordinator made the decision to close the drinking water intake on the lake as a preventive measure to limit contamination on the system.

Our water supply is free of contamination and safe to drink.

A team of divers will be accompanied by the Ministry of the Environment tomorrow morning to evaluate if a reopening of the water intake can be done without danger. We therefore ask citizens to reduce their water use as much as possible until further notice.

The Municipality has already provided for the supply of drinking water for these citizens via cisterns in case we have to delay the reopening of the water intake.

Other developments will follow tomorrow after the inspection made by the diving team.
